Cameron And Tyler Winklevoss Donate $1 Million In Bitcoin To Unseat Crypto Villain Elizabeth Warren

Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss announced Thursday they had donated a combined $1 million in Bitcoin to pro-XRP lawyer John Deaton, who is running against crypto’s most prominent foe in Washington, D.C., Elizabeth Warren.

Why The Winklevoss Bros Back John Deaton

Gemini co-founders and crypto evangelists Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss each contributed $500,000 to John Deaton’s senate campaign in a bid to kick Senator Elizabeth Warren out of office in November.

The twins laid out their case in detailed posts on X on Thursday, which were highly critical of incumbent Warren, with Tyler calling the Massachusetts Senator the “chief architect” and driver of the Biden administration’s war on the crypto industry.”

“When it comes to crypto, she is public enemy number one,” he asserted.

According to Winklevoss, President Joe Biden gave Warren veto power over his regulatory nominees in exchange for supporting his presidential campaign in 2020. This gave her a lot of power to shape regulatory bodies, essentially making the chiefs of these bodies her marionettes and bringing about the infamous Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s (FDIC) Operation Chokepoint 2.0.

“Crypto has the capacity to level the financial playing field and promote financial inclusion, fairness, and freedom for all. Elizabeth Warren should be embracing it. Instead, she has tried to kill it. Why? Because she can’t control it. Her lust for power and control is so great that she puts it ahead of the individual consumer that she pretends to care about and protect,” Tyler added.

To unseat Warren, Tyler and Cameron donated $1 million in Bitcoin—8 BTC each—to the campaign of the crypto defender and Republican rival John Deaton.

“John Deaton is pro-Bitcoin, pro-crypto, pro-business, and he will put an end to Elizabeth Warren’s war on crypto,” Cameron Winklevoss said in his tweet.

Ripple Donates $1 Million To Deaton’s Campaign

Last week, Ripple donated $1 million to a super political action committee (PAC), Commonwealth Unity Fund, created by lawyer Jamer Murphy to help defeat anti-crypto senator Elizabeth Warren and elect Deaton.

The lawyer-turned-politician has a long history with Ripple after filing amicus briefs on behalf of thousands of XRP holders in the protracted case lodged by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in December 2020. Deaton has also weighed in during Coinbase’s clash with the securities regulator, further establishing his reputation in cryptocurrency circles.
